The state of Iowa offers many non-standard or specialty license plates options to its residents.  In particular the College and University specialty plates offer a large variety of color combinations that can be used to reduce the overstated appearance of the standard plate.   However, when selecting a specialty collegiate plate for the color, school specific graphics can again begin to overstate the appearance of the plate.

 

Blackout Frame solves this problem by removing the unwanted collegiate features of the specialty plate leaving only essential license plate information.  The Blackout Frame was designed to create the appearance of a nearly solid background color for any collegiate plate.  While Blackout Frame originated around the color Black, the aluminum frame can be painted to match any color collegiate plate.  As well, the frames can be painted with custom colors to match vehicle specific paints.
